Kids and Water and Sun

We were supposed to have some nice weather (finally) so I arranged very quickly to pick up my 2 oldest grandchildren for an overnight and "fun sun day"!  We made the most of every sunny moment playing in my yard with new water toys and in the water at my lake.  Their parents (along with Simon of course) picked them up the next day and Alissa and Max came to play too!! It was wonderful.........I couldn't have asked for more fun!!

Max's First Smiles!!

When I arrived at the McDonald home yesterday morning I was greeted with a big smile from Max....he then turned to his Mama and gave her a big smile.  These were Max's first smiles and it was very exciting and fun to see.  What a cutie!!  Throughout the day we saw several more smiles.  It is hard to catch a baby smile on a digital camera....the smiles are quick and the camera is slow.  I did catch a few though...it seems he likes people who make silly noises and funny faces!!  Here are some samples!!  One even looks like a big laugh!!

And finally.....the big almost laugh!!  It really pays to be a very silly grandma!!

Settling for Butterflies

I have no cute grandchildren in my backyard today so I have to settle for a beautiful butterfly.
According to information gathered by my cousin Carole this is a  Swallowtail Butterfly. If you look carefully you will see some little blue dots by the tail. These are actually there to confuse the birds as they think they are the butterflie's eyes. When they swoop down for a bite of butterfly they are actually attacking the tail and not the head. This does little harm to the butterfly.

This one has a small piece missing from the wing but the tail in intact.
This was a very cooperative butterfly and hung around while I was able to take 40 pictures from various angles.......They ALL turned out...here are a few.

Max's First Visit to Grandma's

Max and Alissa came to Grandma's house on Tuesday for a FIRST visit.  It was a beautiful day and wonderful to have Max here at my house.

It was bath time and time to change his oxygen cannula.  His little face is so cute without all the tubes on it.............fun to see.

My sink is just the right size for a baby bath!!  And it is even BLUE for a BOY!!

Here he is all dressed up in his summer shorts and sandals.....TOO CUTE!!!

We spent some time outside.....Max has a cute little sunshade that is really nice for an outside nap on a summer day!!

Back inside on Grandma's playmat before heading home.  He doesn't know how to PLAY.....but he did LOOK at the hanging toys!!

The Nursery

Alissa and I have been busy organizing and decorating Max's nursery......it is finally almost done.  It takes TWO of us because little Max is SO much help!!

Here he is finally alseep......with his body guard keeping watch......"Don't bother the baby" says Chispa!!

Here is Max being 'helpful' again!!  Notice he still isn't having any trouble eating......weighs 11 lbs 1 oz!!
Is this a future linebacker???

We finally finished..........the decor looks very nice.....clothes and baby necessities are all in their place (for the time being!) and it is a cute, comfy environment for our little Max......and his Mama in all those wee hours of the night and morning!!

Alissa's brother, Corbin, refinished and reapholstered this rocker which was in his living room.  Great job.....and a relief for a tired Mama to have a nice place to rock the baby in the middle of the night!!
